Spotlight #1: WikiLeaks

Who is a criminal? Someone who exposes crime? Or someone who commits a crime? I think the answer is clear here. Julian Assange is nothing but a publisher. He should be treated as such. Is it because of his unorthodox methods? Because it is a platform and not a journalistic outlet? This is splitting hairs here. He has done nothing wrong. But we focus the wrong thing. We focus on WikiLeaks. We focus on their employees, on Julian Assange, on their leaks. All true, all good. We should focus on this, yes. But lets re-adjust the focus for a brief moment. Who is responsible for all those exposed crimes? Who is responsible for “regime change” and the attempt to influence all those countries which are war-ridden, bombed into debris, with suffering citizens and people living in hell? America. It is the United States. These people are responsible. Their approach to being “the greatest country in the world” led to a downfall of half Middle East. Not just Iraq and Afghanistan. But also its surrounding territories.

The United States is responsible for so much destruction and killing of civilians, for so much killing and murdering. It uses drones, it uses helicopters, death squads, black sites, inhumane and cruel treatment of humans, i.e. torture, surveillance and hacking methods, and whatnot. It is actively ignoring all democratic and law-abiding things. It doesn’t care for their own democracy in Washington, for UN related guidelines and resolutions, for international law, or even simple, human and reasonable things like humanity or compassion. (Even that would be too much I guess.) The US is nothing but a bunch of criminals under the hood of a free and democratic country. In other terms: It does whatever the fuck it wants. It invades countries, secures resources, secures trading routes, bombs whole countries into dust and doesn’t give a crap about any civilians who have to live the outcome of this. No, Julian Assange is no criminal. WikiLeaks are a neutral method to safely leak things. The real criminals sit in Washington. With no accountability, no responsibility, and no humanity.
